The Western Virginia Deer Hunters Association, or W.V.D.H.A., was formed in 1996 to help concerned hunters have a voice in game law legislation.
The main objective of W.V.D.H.A. is to preserve and maintain our American heritage and our right to hunt deer. We also strive to improve the quality of deer hunting in Augusta, Rockingham, Shenandoah and Page Counties.
United together, hunters from Augusta, Rockingham, Shenandoah and Page Counties will be able to help assist the Virginia Game Department with particular issues in their respective counties.
By working with teh Virginia Game Department and the National Forest Service, better deer management game laws have been established. We will participate in any future chagnes in deer hunting laws in these counties.
Today, the W.V.D.H.A. has been working with the George Washington National Forest to improve deer habitat by creating food plots. With four projects completed (and others to follow), these food plots provide deer in the national forest with needed nutrition for healthier deer and better quality bucks. We have provided two deer decoys to the game department to be used in our area.
The W.V.D.H.A. also participates in community projects in the George Washington National Forest. We helped to haul stone for the Hogpen Disabled Hunter Access Road.
It is an unfortunate fact that anti-hunting groups are gaining in strength. Hunters need to join together now and speak up so we will not lose our freedom to hunt. |
